Tracking Strength Training Progress

You cannot manage what you don't measure. Tracking your workouts is the most reliable way to ensure consistent progress in strength training.

What to track

  • Exercise, sets, reps and weight for each session
  • Rest periods where relevant
  • How the session felt (1–10 energy/effort)

Progressive overload

The principle that drives progress: gradually increase weight, reps or sets over time. Even adding one rep per session represents progress. Your log reveals when you are ready to progress.
