Coping with Bereavement — Information and Support

Grief is a natural response to loss. There is no right way to grieve, and no timeline for how long it should take.

Normal grief experiences

Shock, sadness, anger, guilt, relief, numbness — all are normal. Grief often comes in waves rather than stages.

Where to find support

  • Cruse Bereavement Support: 0808 808 1677 (cruse.org.uk)
  • The Samaritans: 116 123 (open 24/7)
  • AtALoss.org: directory of bereavement support services

If grief is significantly affecting your daily life or mental health, speak to your GP. Counselling and bereavement support are available on the NHS.
