Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a kitchen conversion chart?
Recipes come from all over — American ones use cups and Fahrenheit, older British ones use ounces and gas marks, modern ones use grams and Celsius — and a conversion chart lets you cook any of them without stopping to do mental arithmetic or hunt online mid-recipe. It's especially handy for oven temperatures (Celsius to gas mark, and the roughly 20°C drop for fan ovens) and for converting cup measures to grams or millilitres. Note that conversions are approximate, and for baking — where precision matters most — weighing ingredients in grams with digital scales is the most reliable method. Stick the chart inside a cupboard door and you'll reach for it constantly.
