Best frames for printable wall art: A3, A4 and gallery sets

Printing wall art at home costs almost nothing. The frame is the investment that turns a printed sheet into a finished piece. Here is how to choose.

Size first

Match the frame to the print: A2 or A3 for statement pieces (family name, nursery prints, large quotes), A4 for individual prints in a gallery wall. Buy the frame before printing — print at the exact A-size the frame lists.

Finish and room

Gold suits warm, traditional or maximalist rooms. Black reads modern and graphic — great for home offices and contemporary spaces. White is the safest all-rounder — clean and neutral. Natural wood is warm and works in every room but especially kitchens, nurseries and living spaces.

Gallery walls

For a gallery wall, choose one frame finish and mix sizes (A4 portrait, A5 landscape, square) for visual interest. Lay the arrangement on the floor first before putting a single nail in the wall.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print at home and frame it?
Yes — print on 250gsm matte card for best results, then frame. The card is thick enough to sit flat in the frame without curling.
What size looks best as a statement piece?
A2 for a large wall (above a sofa, in a hallway). A3 for most other rooms. A4 for gallery walls and desk displays.
