Spring cleaning feels overwhelming until you have a clear system. Here is how to do it properly.
Always clean from ceiling to floor: dust the tops of cupboards and light fittings first, clean the surfaces second, floor last. If you clean the floor and then dust the shelves, you do it twice.
While spring cleaning, keep three containers: a bag for charity, a box for other rooms, a bin for rubbish. Deal with each item once rather than moving things from surface to surface.
Extractor fan filters, the top of the fridge, the inside of the microwave and oven, washing machine door seals, grout lines, light switches. These are the areas that make the real difference between a tidy home and a truly clean one.
Use our free spring cleaning checklist to work through every room systematically.
