A repeat prescription is a way to get regular, ongoing medication without needing to see your GP each time. If you take medicine long-term, your GP can set it up as a 'repeat', so you can reorder it when you need more — within limits they set — rather than booking an appointment for every refill.
Your GP authorises a certain number of repeats before a review is needed. When you're running low, you request your next supply (you don't usually need to see the doctor), the prescription is issued, and you collect the medication from your pharmacy. Many surgeries let you order repeats online via the NHS App or their website, as well as in person or sometimes by phone.
