Puppy vaccination schedule UK — what jabs and when

Vaccination is essential for puppy health. Here is the standard UK schedule.

The primary vaccination course

• First vaccination: typically at 8 weeks. Covers distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis (and usually leptospirosis).
• Second vaccination: 2–4 weeks later, typically 10–12 weeks.
• Kennel cough: intranasal vaccine, often given at the same time as the second jab or separately.

When can the puppy go outside?

Generally 1–2 weeks after the second vaccination is complete — usually around 13–14 weeks. Check with your specific vet as timing varies by vaccine protocol.

Annual boosters

After the primary course, boosters are typically annual (for leptospirosis) and triennial (for core vaccines). Your vet will advise based on your dog's specific protocol.
