Ergonomics is the science of designing work, equipment and environments to fit the people who use them — rather than forcing people to adapt to poorly designed setups. The goal is to reduce strain, prevent injury and improve comfort and efficiency.
Poor workstation ergonomics is a leading cause of musculoskeletal problems — back pain, neck strain, repetitive strain injury (RSI) and carpal tunnel syndrome. With many people now spending eight or more hours a day at a desk, often on laptops not designed for prolonged use, ergonomic setup has become a significant health issue.
