Frequently asked questions

How does a no-spend challenge work?
A no-spend challenge means committing to a set period — often a month — where you only spend on agreed essentials (bills, rent, food, transport, medication) and cut out everything discretionary: takeaways, clothes, coffees, impulse buys and so on. You set your own rules at the start (deciding exactly what counts as essential, and whether you'll allow one small treat), then track your no-spend days. The benefits are twofold: you save money directly, and — often more valuable — you become sharply aware of how much you'd normally fritter away without noticing, which can reset your habits well beyond the challenge itself. Don't aim for perfection; a slip-up isn't failure, just carry on. Plan free things to do instead so you're not relying on willpower alone. This is general information, not financial advice.
