Frequently asked questions
How does the Christmas elf tradition work?
The elf tradition is a playful festive game where a little elf 'arrives' from the North Pole at the start of December to watch over the children and report back to Santa on their behaviour. Each night the elf moves to a new spot (and sometimes gets up to gentle mischief) for the children to find in the morning, and on Christmas Eve it returns to the North Pole. An arrival letter is a lovely way to introduce the elf and explain the 'rules' (a common one being not to touch the elf, or its magic fades), and a goodbye letter gives a warm send-off on its last night. It's entirely make-your-own — keep it as simple or elaborate as suits your family, and the letters add a personal touch of magic.
