A baby keepsake box is a lovely way to save the little treasures from your baby's earliest days that you'll cherish looking back on — but the trick is keeping the genuinely special bits rather than everything, or you'll end up with boxes you never revisit. Popular things to save include: the hospital bracelet or name band, scan photos and their first photo, the going-home outfit, and birth announcement cards — the items from those very first days. Then early milestones: the first lock of hair from their first haircut, hand and footprints (kits make these easy), a favourite first baby grow or outfit, and their first toy or comforter. Little mementoes like a muslin or blanket, first shoes, special cards and letters, and — lovely to include — a written note of their birth story while it's fresh, all make treasured additions. A few tips for keeping them well: use an acid-free or lined box for delicate paper and fabric items so they don't yellow or degrade, label things with dates (you'll be amazed how quickly you forget), and add the occasional photo. Most importantly, be a little selective — a box of carefully chosen, meaningful treasures is far more precious (and more likely to be revisited) than an overflowing one. It becomes a gorgeous time capsule of their babyhood.
